Located in the center of Fort Myers Florida, in the heart of Southwest Florida, Peniel Church is easily accessible only 5 minutes from I-75. Weekly we receive members and guest from all over the area: Port Charlotte, Cape Coral, North Ft Myers, Alva, Labelle, Lehigh Acres, South Ft Myers, Estero, Bonita Springs, Ave Maria, Immokalee, Naples.

Who We Are

Tell me about Peniel Church!

Peniel Church is a bilingual (Spanish and English) Assemblies of God Christian Church in the Southwest Florida area, with a mission to lead people to encounter new life in Jesus. Peniel Church is led by Pastor Ruth Burgos who has devoted her life to ministry and has been able to travel the world speaking at numerous Christian Churches across the nation.

Peniel Church was originally founded in 2000 by Pastors Carlos and Kathy Mena. In December of 2006 Pastor Mena moved to New Jersey, leaving Pastor Ruth Burgos and her husband Ruben with the church in January of 2007. They started with 13 people in the place they were renting and soon God began to add families to Peniel. And on April 20, 2012, God supplied the finances to buy a temple in a central but rural location in Fort Myers, called Buckingham Preserve.

Peniel Church gathers on Sundays 9 AM. Also because of Covid19 some of our in house weekday events and some ministry functions have been postponed or rescheduled until further notice. Review our Events Page or Contact us for more information.

What are your weekend experiences like?

Each weekend at Peniel Church you’ll find a passionate atmosphere with exciting, contemporary worship music and a practical, relevant message. Children are well-cared for in a loving, quality nursery and fun-filled Kids Church experience.

When are your experience times?

Every weekend we host Sunday worship experience at 9AM.

What is your praise and worship like?

Peniel Church aims to be a place in the Southwest Florida where people can experience the Presence of God. Every week, our worship team leads us with songs that glorify Jesus and all that He has accomplished for us. We want to create a powerful atmosphere where you can receive a touch of God in your life.

What will happen when I visit for the first time?

If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you, or have you stand up, but will make you feel welcomed. We know that many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” for a while—and that’s fine with us! Come in, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, and see if this is the church for you.

What do I wear to attend your experience?

You’ll find everything from casual clothes to business suits at our Weekend Experiences. Come in what is comfortable for you, because Peniel Church is not about what you look like or what you wear.

Do you have a midweek experience?

Yes, we have our amazing weekly Bible classes which begin at 7:30 PM on Wednesdays except for the 1^st Wednesdays of the month when we have our congregational prayer service. Then on any month that has 5 weeks in it, on that Wednesday we have special family night service.

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we broadcast at 12PM in the afternoon a short bible reflection “Noon with Peniel” on www.Facebook.com/Penielfortmyers. Also every Tuesday and Thursday nights at 9:30 PM we have a live prayer time which is broadcast live again on www.Facebook.com/Penielfortmyers and thousands of people around the world follow, watched, participated and prayed with us and send in prayer request for themselves, friends and loved ones. “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:16

Once a month, either the first or last Friday of the month, we host our Friday night experiences with guest speakers called Worship Encounter Nights. Worship Encounter Night consists of praise and worship, prayer and a special message by our guest speaker. For more details go to our Events Page and see our calendar to find our next worship night.

What about my children?

At Peniel Church your children are a top priority. Our nurseries are clean, safe, and staffed with loving workers. We offer a dynamic children’s ministry every Sunday during our 9 AM Service called Peniel Kids Church as well as ministry to students from Middle School through High School every other Friday of the month at 7:30 PM in our Annex (the build next to our Sanctuary).

How can I meet others and get connected?

There are many ways to get involved. You can begin by attending our Connect class. In each of these, you can build friendships, learn more about the life of our church, and have the opportunity to grow in your faith and have to ability to join and participate or even volunteer in a ministry.

Ministries are an important part of Peniel Church; in fact, you haven’t fully experienced Peniel Church until you’ve experienced our various Ministries. Ministries allow you to meet other members and develop relationships that will spur your relationship with God. As Peniel Church grows, Ministries allow us to “stay small” and connected. Ministries are available for all ages and interests—there’s bound to be one that’s just right for you.
